Jammu region is known for pilgrim tourism , especially the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, which is visited by millions of pilgrims every year , In addition, Jammu region also has some famous tourist destinations such as Patni top , Sanasar, Kud, Mansar lake, Bhaderwah , Akhnoor , Baba Dhamsar, Shadra Sharief, Rajouri, Poonch, Banikhal etc.

Patni Top : Patni top , 105 kms from Jammu city is situated at 2024 meters above sea level on Jammu Srinagar National Highway . Jammu is known as a dream retreat and located on a plateau, towering over river Chenab and looking up to Pir Panjal range Trekking in the tall pine groves and fine skiing camps are thrown open on the exciting slope at Madhatop in January & February.

Sanasar: Situated at 2029 meters above sea level, Sanasar is further 19 kms from Patni top , It is another famous hill resort with a cup shaped meadow surrounded by gignatic conifers. The meadow has now been developed as a golf course. The hill resort is a perfect place for quiet holidays far way from routine affairs.

The resort is also ideal place for paragliding . J & K tourism has introduced paragliding in this famous hill resort.

Reaching Jammu & Kashmir :

By Air: All major airlines operate regular daily flights to Srinagar and Jammu from New Delhi and other major cities in India. Srinagar air port is 14 kms from city . For Ladakh Indian airlines three flights in a week between Leh to Delhi  Two flights in a week from Jammu & once in week from Srinagar. Jet airways also operates six flights in a week between Leh - Delhi and Kingfisher air lines operate daily flight between Leh- Delhi.

By Rail: Jammu Tawi , a major railway junction of northern India , and Srinagar 's nearest railhead , receives a large numbers of trains from most parts of India in Kashmir valley. Internal train service has been started from Qazigund in south Kashmir to Baramulla in North Kashmir .

By Road: National highway 1-A , connecting Srinagar with Jammu ( 300 Kms) is an all weather road. Jammu is conneted to many parts of North India , The famous Jawaharlal Tunnel and Banihal pass fall on the Jammu - Srinagar Highway . Busses and all types of taxies to Srinagar are available from the Jammu Railway station and city center , The overland approach to Ladakh from Kashmir valley via kargil is 434 Km which remains open for traffic from early June to November.
